Guys: Do you agree with women participating in MMA?

By admin | Thursday, July 29th, 2010 | MMA Fighting

or an even better question, if your daughter wanted to be an MMA fighter, would you object to it?
@varkarrus
yes it was a serious question. you’d be surprised by how many men support boxing and mma but oppose women fighting professionally…

I have no problem with women participating in MMA so long as female MMA fights don’t become some kind of MMA-based sideshow attraction for tons of perv-bag guys. I think that’s why some people have a problem with women in MMA. Attractive women bring in more fans, but the attractive women aren’t always the most legitimate fighters around. So you get these huge differences in skill levels, and some women only getting paid to ‘fight’ on the basis of their appearance, things like that, y’know? I think that’s a serious thing to be rightfully concerned with, too.

If I had a daughter that wanted to become a fighter, I’d be ecstatic and would fully support her, so long as it made her happy and was what she really wanted. I’d only have a problem if she was doing it because of me.

If she wants to, that’s her choice. She should be able to.

Is this a serious question? Do bears shit in the woods? The answer is yes. Any woman should be allowed to do whatever a man is allowed to do. One of my friend’s (female) idol (who’s name I can’t remember) is a famous MMA fighter.

I’d agree with it. But making the wrong career choice? IF I’d ever have a daughter, I’ll have to be assured she has something to fall back on if she ever decides to fight for money. Just like in any sports, for athletes, losing is not an option.

I really enjoy watching both genders fight though.

I’m all for equal opportunity in martial arts. I’ve trained alongside women since I started, and respect that they’re able to do. I’d be upset if women weren’t allowed to participate, because that would be archaic and sexist.

If I had a daughter who wanted to fight MMA, I’d make sure she knew what she was in for first. It’s a tough life that requires a lot of discipline. In the end, though, I think I’d be pleased.

Yes of course, I would agree on all women who are now participating in MMA sports.

And if my daughter will be one among them, then there is no reason I would stop her to do so, besides I’m also an MMA Instructor who can train her and give some helpful thoughts, let her understood the deep meaning of respect and dicipline, cross train her on other style for her own discoveries and benefits of some useful techniques.

We are on the open world how, wherein women had been participating on some sports where men can do, then as an MMA devotee I would be happy if my daughter are among them competing on this new trend of sports.

Good luck

Yes, I agree that woman should participate in MMA events! Although it is not considered the norm why should any sport be exclusive to one sex, race, or nationality? I have two daughters and i train them both in martial arts and MMA type competition and they are better students than some males i’ve trained. (Not saying because they are girls, but because others would think they wouldn’t be because they are girls) I can agree that there are some health and safety concerns that some people have pertaining to female participants, but as responsible adults I see why it shouldn’t be a personal choice of any woman who wants to compete. Im a very big fan of martial arts and love to see anyone male or female take interest in the arts just as much as i do. Life should be more about the experience and journey not about who is actually taking the trip.

i’m not bothered either way, just like i’m not bothered either way if guys choose or choose not too participate in MMA. If they want to compete and train that’s fine with me, if they dont, thats also fine, and the thought extends to anyone male or female

Yes. Why not? Why should they be forbidden?

I have a son and don’t plan on having anymore kids…ever.

I do not have a problem with woman MMA, in fact I really enjoy watching women fights and training with them.

I would reject it. I want my kid going to college, not getting punched in the face.

I’m against it, even though I train my daughter in TKD and have her take Judo from another teacher. I also know my view is not politically correct and people will let women fight anyway. I don’t see anything wrong with women training MMA in a club, but think the whole cage thing is too much. I have no issues with women in traditional martial arts, but with the way they run MMA matches, I’d have to say hell no.

No one will see what I am against it unless they let women get beaten to a pulp and have them swimming in their own blood before areferee gets around to breaking it up. Will they make sure that the women are not pregnant before they fight?
